Reminder for Who Must Submit an ÒÁµéÔ°ÊÓƵ COI Disclosure
The following individuals are required to submit a Research Conflict of Interest (RCOI) disclosure and maintain a current disclosure throughout the year:
- Individuals listed on an open (active or inactive) sponsored project in the Research Portal as a Principal Investigator (PI), Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), or Key Personnel, regardless of title; or
- Individuals holding a research-related or research/instructional appointment, including tenure-track and tenured faculty (T&R), non-tenure-track research faculty.
Adjuncts and lecturers are generally excluded; however, those who meet any of the criteria above (e.g., serving as PI, Co-PI, or Key Personnel on a sponsored project, or holding a research-related or research/instructional appointment) are required to submit and maintain a current COI disclosure.
Deans, the Provost, Vice Presidents, and other Officers of the University, due to their institutional leadership and oversight responsibilities, will submit disclosures through the Institutional Conflict of Interest (ICOI) module, rather than the standard Research COI (RCOI) module.
Annual Disclosure Window
The annual COI disclosure period for the current cycle is January 1, 2026 through February 28, 2026. Required individuals must submit their disclosure within this window and keep their information current throughout the year as changes occur.
How to Submit
Disclosures are completed in the ÒÁµéÔ°ÊÓƵ Research Portal:
- Visit https://researchfoundation.odu.edu/
- Select Research Portal and log in
- From the lower-left menu, click My COI Disclosures
- Select + New RCOI Disclosure to begin
- You may choose “carry-over from prior annual disclosure†to pre-populate last year’s information, then review and update as needed
Individuals required to complete the Institutional COI (ICOI) will follow the same portal access and select the +New ICOI Disclosure instead.
