ÒÁµéÔ°ÊÓƵ Internship Recognition – What Are My Options?

 

 

Did you know there are multiple ways to make sure your internship is recognized at ÒÁµéÔ°ÊÓƵ? Whether you’re looking for credit, transcript recognition, or acknowledgement for a past experience, the Monarch Internship & Co-Op Office (MICO) has options for you.

1. Credit-Bearing Work-Based Learning Courses

Students may enroll in a variety of courses that connect classroom learning with hands-on experience. Examples include:

  • Marketing 368
  • Spanish 369
  • …and internships, co-ops, fieldwork, assistantships, fieldwork, clinicals, apprenticeships, externships, and hundreds more across disciplines!

For credit-bearing options, the faculty of record sets the work requirement. Depending on the course, this may range from 120 hours to over 400 hours of required work based learning experience. Be sure to confirm expectations with the course Instructor.

2. Zero-Credit Internship Recognition (UNIV 068 / GRAD 668)

If your internship is not required for your major, or you simply want it recorded on your transcript:

  • Enroll in UNIV 168 (undergraduate) or GRAD 668 (graduate).
  • These zero-credit courses are free and easy to enroll in, with rolling admission all semester long.
  • The faculty of record for UNIV 168/GRAD 668 is Dr. Barbara Blake, Executive Director of MICO.
  • A minimum of 40 internship hours is required for transcript recognition.

3. Past Internship Recognition

Already completed an internship, but ÒÁµéÔ°ÊÓƵ didn’t know about it? You can still apply for Past Internship Recognition and have it noted on your academic transcript by the University. Get the recognition you deserve!
 

4. Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)

Are you currently working in your field or have you completed an internship at another university and want credit hours for that experience? Apply for PLA – Prior Learning Assessment.
